Food & Kitchen Metals

FDA-compliant stainless & aluminum. NSF-listed stainless steel and food-safe aluminum for commercial kitchens, food trucks, and processing equipment.

Recommended Alloys

Food-grade metals for direct food contact, commercial kitchen equipment, and food truck fabrication.

304 / 304L Stainless Steel

Food contact surfaces

The industry standard for commercial kitchen equipment, prep tables, and food processing machinery. NSF-listed and FDA-compliant for direct food contact. 304L (low carbon) is preferred for welded fabrications to prevent carbide precipitation and maintain corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zone.

NSF/ANSI 2FDA 21 CFR 175-178ASTM A240

3003-H14 Aluminum

Cookware, bakeware & food trucks

The most widely used aluminum alloy for food-related applications. Excellent formability for deep-drawn cookware and bakeware. Standard for food truck wall panels, shelving, and non-structural food service equipment. Not for direct acidic food contact — use stainless for that.

ASTM B209FDA 21 CFR 175.300

5052-H32 Aluminum

Food truck bodies & prep tables

Higher strength than 3003 with excellent corrosion resistance. Standard for food truck exterior panels, walk-in cooler panels, and structural food service components. Weldable and formable — ideal for custom food service fabrication.

ASTM B209AMS 4015

Building a commercial kitchen or food truck?

Start with 304 stainless steel for any surface that contacts food directly — it’s NSF-listed and the industry default. Use 3003 aluminum for non-contact surfaces like wall panels and shelving, and 5052 for structural components that need to be welded.
